We are a family-run birdwatching and ecotourism lodge, and the focus of our actions has always been to guarantee the sustainability of tourism on the Rio Azul. 

About us

From the planning studies before we even began to construct the lodge infrastructure, to the careful cutting of our forest trails, to the long-term decision to attend only small groups and individuals, we are aware of the great responsibility that comes with our privileged location. 

To that end we have always sought ecologically and socially responsible operational solutions.

Initiatives

our current conservation initiatives

Expanding land under protection is a major focus area for ourselves and a number of conservation-minded individuals along the Sao Benedito and Azul Rivers. The lodge invites potential investors to spend time in the area and invites them to be part of this group of people purchasing land for conservation.

Rio Azul Jungle Lodge supports the following conservation initiatives:

  • An Anaconda relocation programme that includes acclimatising and monitoring anaconda that have been relocated to our area from other areas.
  • Supporting an artificial nest initiative to encourage Harpy Eagle to breed in logged areas which have adequate quantities of prey but insufficient tall trees for nest building.
  • Working with a partner to to install artificial nests for the endangered species of macaws and parrots.
  • A reforestation programme that also allows guests to plant trees an make a personal difference to restoring the rainforest.
